Spiritual Activities in Australia

Spirituality is the science that teaches us how to live happily in the world. Spiritual practices help us to live a harmonious life; access inner reserves of peace, wisdom and compassion; and deepen our connection with ourselves, others and the world around us.

True happiness is already within us… Practice regularly. When the awareness grows, we will merge into that reality, that happiness within us.”
– Amma

Amma says that collective spiritual practice helps us remove the obstacles in our lives more easily. It also creates a strong positive physical influence in the environment.

Spiritual activities and spiritual education in Australia include:

Regular Spiritual Gatherings (Satsang)

In many regions across Australia spiritual seekers gather regularly to meditate, chant and sing devotional songs together. This helps keep alive the flame of spirituality that Amma has illuminated in their hearts. These regular group gatherings, known as Satsang, are open to everyone.

Sacred Rituals (Homas & Pujas)

Vedic ceremonies (Pujas and Homas) take place regularly throughout the country. Performed for the benefit of all beings and to create harmony and balance in the world and environment.

Meditation Retreats

Silent Meditation Retreats led by Amma’s senior disciples are offered across Australia throughout the year. These retreats can be transformative and help nurture and support our spiritual practices.

Public talks / Scripture Classes

Regular inspiring Public Talks and Scripture Classes by Amma’s monastic disciples distil the essence of spirituality and help to deepen our understanding of spiritual values.

IAM

The IAM® (Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique) is taught throughout Australia. The goal of this technique is the integration of body, breath and mind.

Group Meditations

Group Meditations both online and in person take place throughout the year.

Book Clubs / Devotional Singing Classes

Book Clubs and Chanting and Devotional Singing Classes are held both in person and online.

AAAS

The Amrita Academy of Arts and Spirituality holds classes for children in Melbourne and Sydney. These classes draw from Amma’s teachings on the importance of spiritual knowledge, culture and values premised on compassion and the interconnectedness and wholeness of life.
