Bush Fire Initiatives Announcement | January 6, 2020
The Australian bush fire has indeed been an unprecedented catastrophe. Amma in her New Year’s Eve speech at Amritapuri, India, noted the overwhelming severity of the bush fire’s damage to the environment, and the lives of many people and wildlife, and has asked everyone pray and assist all affected by this disaster.
With the bush fire danger remaining high with many weeks of dry hot summer still to come, Amma organisations in Australia, with Amma’s guidance, will be supporting communities through several initiatives. These include:
- The development of a vegetation rehabilitation support plan, through planting tree saplings in or close to affected areas.
- Organising collective prayers nationally including formal pujas, peace chanting, and meditation.
- Fund-raising where all funds collected are directed to supporting volunteers involved in fighting the fires and communities affected by the fires.
We also take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank all those serving in the bush fire relief efforts including the many volunteers who have so selflessly offered their services, and pray for their safety and well-being.
We remain guided by Amma’s message, noting:
We need to proceed carefully with the awareness that each of us has a responsibility to protect Mother Nature.”
and that,
Our highest and most important duty in this world is to help our fellow beings.”
