Melbourne MAY – JULY

WEEKLY SCRIPTURAL CLASSES

MANDUKYA UPANISHAD
When: Wednesdays from 7:30pm to 8:45pm

The Mandukya Upanishad is renowned for its in-depth examination of the sacred syllable “Aum,” representing the essence of the ultimate reality. It explores the different states of consciousness and offers profound insights into the nature of existence, consciousness, and the self. It provides a contemplative path for seekers to understand the essence of their being and transcend the limitations of the material world. The teachings of Mandukya Upanishad have practical applications for meditation and spiritual practice.

“Mandukya eva alam” is a Sanskrit phrase that can be translated to ” Mandukya by itself is sufficient.” The essence of this expression suggests that the Mandukya Upanishad contains profound insights and teachings that are so comprehensive and powerful that they are sufficient for a seeker to attain spiritual realization.

YOGA SUTRAS
When: Fridays from 7:30pm to 9:00pm

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, compiled over two thousand years ago, provide a systematic and practical guide for individuals seeking to control and discipline the mind. These Sutras offer a holistic approach to mental and spiritual well-being, guiding practitioners toward inner harmony and self-realization. By providing a roadmap for understanding the mind’s complexities and offering practical tools for self-discipline, the Yoga Sutras are invaluable in cultivating mental control, emotional stability, and spiritual growth.

The Yoga Sutras are highly practical, offering timeless wisdom for managing the complexities of the mind. They provide not only a philosophical framework but also actionable steps that, when diligently practiced, lead to mental mastery, emotional equilibrium, and spiritual insight. The Sutras remain a revered guide for those seeking self-discovery, inner peace, and a transformative journey toward a more conscious and awakened life.

NARADA BHAKTI SUTRAS
Swami Atmananda Puri will be conducting Scriptural Class on Narada Bhakti Sutras during the regular satsang at Amma’s Ashram, Melbourne.
When: Sundays from 11:15am to 12:30pm.

The Narada Bhakti Sutras, attributed to the legendary sage Narada, represent a concise and powerful exploration of Bhakti Yoga, a path centered on the cultivation of devotion and love towards the divine. Comprising 84 succinct sutras, these aphorisms transcend the conventional boundaries of ritualistic practices and philosophical discourses to delve deeply into the emotional and devotional aspects of spirituality. Narada classifies devotion into different types, illustrating the diverse ways individuals can express their love for the divine.

The Bhakti Sutras also provide insights into the qualities of an authentic devotee, emphasizing sincerity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to divine love. Unlike some other philosophical texts, these sutras are inherently experiential, focusing on the transformative power of love in fostering a profound and personal connection with the divine. The Narada Bhakti Sutras continue to be a source of inspiration for spiritual seekers, highlighting the universality and simplicity of love as a potent means for attaining spiritual realization, transcending theological and sectarian boundaries.

Please note that there is a slight change to the Sunday satsang schedule during Swamiji’s visit.
